The Antalya Sand Sculpture Museum (SANDLAND) is one of the oldest, most prestigious and biggest scuplture events in the world. It has been held since 2006 on always increasing beach areas, number of participating artists and quantity of sand used, to create an exhibition with hundreds of giant sand sculptures. The pieces of art made of sand, are created by using 10 thousand tons of river sand in a 7 thousand square meter area at the reknown Lara Beach in Antalya.
The sand sculptures are the result of three weeks of works of professional artists from many countries in the World. This year's theme for the exhibition is "A SPACE ADVENTURE". In the exhibition you will see the journey of humanity to space, presented chronologically with an enjoyable and educational approach. Discover sculptures related to Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, the Wright Brothers, the Montgolfier Brothers, Hazerfen Çelebi, Zeplin, the first human in space Yuri Gagarin, the first human on moon Neil Armstrong, the Columbia Space Shuttle, the Space X Dragon 2 Capsule, a Mars Space Colony, planets of the Solar System and many more sculptures. You will also enjoy many space movie heroes featured in Star Wars, Star Trek, Wall-E, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Fifth Element and many more.
You will have an opportunity to see the sun, moon and planets in the big screen with strong telescopes, and you will also find a human gyroscope, which creates an environment without gravity. It is the same gyroscope used for training astronauts, and it will provide a unique experience for young and old. Little visitors can participate to workshop programs in the Magical Sand Castle about kinetic energy and have the opportunity to create their first own piece of art. Sculptures in the exhibition area are colored with led lighting systems at night and the area becomes a magical environment with themed music. On a big led screen located in the Museum Cafeteria, a documentary on how the sculptures were created is broadcasted for curious visitors.
