Take part in a private tour of the old town of Ferrara. Discover all the main monuments of the city, from Castello Estense to the majestic Romanesque Cathedral, from the Jewish ghetto to the streets of the Medieval and Renaissance historic center.
Your guided tour will start from Este Castle, which dominates the city center. Surrounded by a moat, the castle was built in 1385 as a stronghold of political and military control of the city. Numerous renovations, at least up until the 16th century, have given the castle the shape that can be admired today.
The tour will then take you to the Romanesque Cathedral built in the 12th century that is situated in front of the Town Hall. The construction of its bell tower began in the 15th century and was designed by the famous artist Leon Battista Alberti. In the 17th century, due to a terrible fire, the interior of the cathedral had to be rebuilt and it adopted a Baroque style. Today, a visit to the interior of the church represents a journey through various eras of Italian history.
