Kick off your day early from Hurghada, snapping pics as you travel through the Red Sea Mountains to Luxor. First, hit up the West Bank of Thebes and be awed by the colossal Colossi of Memnon statues. Standing next to these giants of Pharaoh Amenhotep III will make you feel tiny – and this is just the start. Hossam notes, ‘The Greeks and Romans thought it was lucky to hear the whistling sound from the northern statue at sunrise, a result of a crack from the 27 BC earthquake.’ Next, you’ll continue to the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of legendary pharaohs like Seti, Ramses, and Tutankhamun are carved into desert hills – perfect for those Insta-worthy shots.
Cross the Nile River to the East Bank for a taste of local cuisine – because you’ve gotta try the local eats. Before heading back to Hurghada, end your day at the Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious sites in the world. This sprawling complex offers a deep dive into ancient Egypt’s soul, featuring an incredible array of temples, chapels, sphinxes, pylons, and detailed hieroglyphs.
