The inside story
Jungfraujoch is an impressive glacier saddle in the Bernese Alps, in Switzerland, connecting two recognisable mountain peaks, Jungfrau and Mönch. The site is reachable from Interlaken by the Jungfrau line, a railway running partly through the Eiger mountain. The construction of the railway line started in 1896 and is one of the most renowned Swiss tourist attractions. The train ascends in a tunnel with two stops of five minutes each, during which the passengers can get off and observe the panorama from large windows built in the side of the gallery.
The top of the Jungfraujoch offers its visitors panoramic views of eternal ice and snow, and majestic mountains. Besides admiring the impressive views, travelers can enjoy a break in one of the restaurants at Top of Europe building, visit the highest railway station in Europe or walk in the glacier tunnels of the Ice Palace.
