If you want to try top-notch foods and in particular French food, this Paris food sampling tour in Montmartre might be right for you! Accompanied by your guide, a food lover knack for good stories, you'll binge on a wide picking of French food selection.
We'll meet outside iconic Moulin Rouge and head out to rue Lepic, Montmartre’s historic food market street. Rue Lepic features butchers and bakers, fish stores and cheese mongers, oyster stands and specialty food stores. All are family-run and authentic, and all support healthy eating and small-farm economics. We'll run across centuries-old food signs and window shops, visit award-winning food stores, and we'll chat with engaging purveyors. On the way, we'll get to explore Montmartre, from Moulin Rouge to Sacré Coeur. Montmartre was once the home of Van Gogh, Picasso and Amélie and it is also Edith Piaf’s favorite song theme, and we'll find out why.
You'll sample terrine, smoked hams and garlic sausage. You'll eat roast provencal poultry, chèvre and Brie paired with award-winning baguette; fresh oyster from Normandy and chocolate macaron, chouquette and fruit tart. All are on this menu, with variations to take advantage of every season. The menu also includes wine or a soft drink.
Your guide is a local with plenty of insider’s insights to share! He/she will provide anecdotes illustrating how food matters to the French. You’ll discuss the role of food in French culture – in matters of business, politics, and romance.
At the end of the tour, you’ll know new foods, how your favorite French specialty is made and how to shop for the best foods in France.
